Pavlodar Oil Chemistry Refinery LLP is the largest industrial enterprise in the north-east of Kazakhstan, the main function of which is oil refining and production of petroleum products.
Oil refineries are the largest consumers of fuel and energy resources, including thermal and electrical energy. The efficiency and rationality of their use in oil refining processes are largely determined by the operation of the technological equipment.
The importance of the problem of climate change, growing every day, necessitates close attention to issues of greenhouse gas emissions.
Our priority areas of activity in the field of climate change are reducing greenhouse gas emissions, increasing energy efficiency and energy saving.
We believe that better managing the risks associated with carbon regulation and assessing the direct and indirect greenhouse gas emissions associated with our operations are critical aspects of our business planning to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions.
In accordance with the structure of the enterprise’s activities and the requirements for the industry, we evaluate greenhouse gas emissions according to the following criteria:
- direct greenhouse gas emissions associated with the combustion of hydrocarbon fuels, the operation of production facilities and technological losses;
- indirect energy emissions associated with the consumption of third-party electricity, heat, steam, cooling.
Taking into account the importance of the climate agenda for carbon neutrality, Pavlodar Oil Chemistry Refinery LLP focused on moderate, balanced and consistent decarbonization of its activities. To achieve this goal, the enterprise has developed and implemented the Action Plan for the implementation of the Low-Carbon Development Program for 2022-2031.
