Abat Islyamov started working at the Atyrau Oil Refinery (AOR) after his military service in 1985 as plant operator of CDU-AVT. Thanks to his will he quickly became senior operator, then was appointed head of the installation. He says that his knowledge and skill brought him success:

“In 1985, when I came to the refinery, the technology was limited to work only a few shops. I was young, I did any work with great enthusiasm without being too picky. While working at CDU I learned a lot from my mentors – they are deceased today, among them Malik Turakbayev and Mazhit Kamalidenov. They taught me not only skill, but also helped find the meaning of life. Talking with them was a pleasure. Yuri Melekhin, Victor Lepskiyler were real experts in their field. By watching them at work I, too, acquired skills. So, with dignity I worked in the position of the operator and then senior machine operator.

Technology gets updated, progress does not stand still. To keep pace with times, you have to be a qualified technician. While working at AOR I went to the Atyrau Oil and Gas Institute and later got a degree in chemical engineering. I was appointed as head of the installation. It meant more responsibility. Now, I teach myself. In 2011, I was transferred to the department of technical control where I also worked closely with production. In 2013, during construction of the water recycling unit for the construction of aromatic hydrocarbons production I was appointed as chief.

In 2015, we launched two refineries, which were built according to the latest technology. The plant employs 18 workers. They were trained according to the new methodology. Now a powerful water recycling unit is being built for the Advanced Oil Refining Center (AOCR). Here, there is only the latest technology and automated installation. There is also special staff training for the new equipment.”

Abat Islyamov has travelled several times to Russia and China for acceptance of water recycling device for the production of aromatic hydrocarbons and AOCR. He had been entrusted with important tasks because he is a true professional. Though he was a very experienced professional he never got tired of acquiring the necessary knowledge. At some stage he was trained to work with new technologies at the Pavlodar Oil and Chemistry Refinery (POCR). For 30 years of work at the plant he has been awarded prizes and certificates several times. It was an honor for the working people.
